THE GREEN PLANT: SUSTAINABLE PRODUCTION IN LEIPZIG

We assume 50% of the vehicles we deliver to our customers worldwide to be fully electric by 2030. That’s why we need to expand the production network for electric drivetrains.

The plant in Leipzig is BMW Group’s pioneer plant for e-mobility. Building BMW Group's first fully electric vehicle, the BMW i3, since 2013.

Producing battery components

Now Leipzig is part of the e-drive production network producing battery components. A green plant for green cars. Flexible for upcoming needs.

Man with a battery component

One of the most sustainable automobile plants in the world sets standards in the economical use of limited resources. The electricity from four wind turbines covers about a fifth of the total electricity demand.

THE VISION IS A FULLY CARBON-FREE PRODUCTION THROUGH THE USE OF HYDROGEN

Live and let live. At a sustainable location on 491,000 m² of species-rich green space. As a reliable employer and neighbor.
With confidence in sustainability.
