This episode is about the future of industrial technology trends – with Kasper Sage, managing partner at BMW i Ventures.

For those who are interested in technological trends, Silicon Valley is always top of mind. Being the home to many of the world’s largest tech players, and thousands of startups being founded every year it instantly evokes memories of numerous success stories and tech-myths.

For Kasper Sage and his team at BMW i Ventures, creativity and bright ideas are necessary, yet not sufficient. Their search for groundbreaking technologies begins where entrepreneurs and teams implement those ideas and to drive change in the real world. In this episode, Sage takes us on a journey through the process of scouting, identifying, and capitalizing on industrial technology trends.

Sage has been at BMW i Ventures since the setup of the fund in 2016 and is co-managing the firm together with Marcus Behrendt. He has been in Silicon Valley for over ten years in similar, adjacent roles. Before joining BMW i Ventures, Sage was working as investment professional at Pro7Sat1 Media SE and Manager of Business Development & Partnering at Deutsche Telekom as well as a Management Consultant at Detecon (Deutsche Telekom Group). Before coming to Silicon Valley, Sage held operating roles as Head of Marketing in various startups in Berlin. During his tenure at BMW i Ventures, he has served on about 20 boards and counting. He also has been named a Global Corporate Venturing Rising Star for back-to-back years in 2018 and 2019 by the GDC association.
