In complex times, it is important to find lightness. It helps us to remain optimistic and perhaps even to discover joy in solving challenging tasks.
The bright, friendly exterior Joyous Bright color of the BMW Vision Neue Klasse radiates like the sun and spreads a feeling of warmth. A new development in which the material structure of the aluminum body is preserved thanks to the reduced layers of paint and given a slight yellow shimmer that contrasts with the dark addon parts in Composite Marble. They have already had a life as refrigerators or televisions before being turned into recycled plastic (➜ Read also: Circle of life).
The BMW Vision Neue Klasse is a sporty, four-door saloon, elegant and clearly designed, a dynamic vehicle without being aggressive. Wide wheel arches accentuate the power of the electric all-wheel drive. A single character line visually divides the body at the lower edge, giving the side an agile look with a low center of gravity. The clear design language (➜ Read also: How to create a classic) signifies lightness, sportiness and typical BMW elegance.
As well as the generously large windows, a full-length panoramic roof enhances the open and inviting atmosphere of the vision vehicle. A line of e-ink elements in the lower area of the window surfaces serves as a communication and interaction surface; it also points to the sensor surface with which the automatic door opening can be activated.
At the front of the vehicle, the design elements that distinguish the brand – the BMW kidney (➜ Read also: The BMW kidney) and twin headlights – combine to make a uniform interaction surface. Two fixed light elements define the daytime running light. A host of individually controllable light elements also creates an enormous depth effect.
The innovative technology also shapes the design of the rear lights. Their 3D-printed lighting elements are also distributed on several levels and carefully targeted and controlled. This creates a rear light sculpture with impressive depth and expressiveness.
The interior is open, bright and friendly. Corduroy textile fabrics create a homely ambience in the BMW Vision Neue Klasse. The bright dashboard complements the steering wheel, which is flattened at the top and bottom, as well as the central display with OLED technology in a parallelogram outline. A smartphone charging tray and the gear selector, designed as a glass sculpture, share space on the center console. The absence of classic decorative surfaces gives the interior an overall clean and modern look. The front seats are each secured to the floor with a single bracket, increasing legroom in the rear where passengers can enjoy a generous sense of space on two individual seats.
We humans long for simplification and simplicity. In many ways, the design of the BMW Vision Neue Klasse is radically honed to create an enhanced experience that puts us humans and our needs at heart. Fewer parts and fewer materials leave room for more emotion – a new kind of reduction that is also relevant in terms of sustainability and recyclability.
The Neue Klasse experience represents self-determination, more respect, confidence and more attention to what is really at stake. More time for the meaningful moments, more Freude. This is the future. This is the Neue Klasse.
