A veritable haven for craftsmanship

Villa d’Este, Lake Como, Grand Hotel

Timeless oasis: the Villa d’Este on Lake Como.

Since 1873, Villa d’Este has been THE destination for world-class summits and events. It is thus a worthy venue for the legendary Concorso d’Eleganza (➜ Read also: Dream drive: on the road with the new BMW 8 Series), which is organised by BMW Group Classic in cooperation with the Grand Hotel. Perfect in condition and appearance, automotive jewels vie for prizes in beauty contests.

The stage is also used by manufacturers to present one-offs or concept vehicles. All this makes the Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este a dream for car lovers (➜ Read also: The ultimate bucket list for car enthusiasts) and a feast for style aficionados. When the iconic automotive past is combined with the present and future on the shores of Lake Como, the fascination of mobility can be experienced in all its facets.

World première for the BMW Concept Skytop

BMW Concept Skytop

The BMW Concept Skytop combines classic luxury features and precise craftsmanship with high-tech details to create a unique vehicle.

This is why the dream destination on Lake Como is more than just an architectural structure. The villa epitomises the art of living well in an evocative experience that pleases the eyes and inspires the mind. This intense feeling is also evoked by the BMW Concept Skytop, which celebrates its world première at the Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este – and pays homage to the iconic history of BMW roadsters such as the BMW 507 (➜ Read also: Elvis’ BMW 507 – a legend revived). A modern interpretation of timeless automotive design that combines exclusive materials with highly complex details and traditional craftsmanship.

The BMW Concept Skytop is also an ode to the subtle pleasure of the moment – a vehicle that makes it possible to take the feeling of places such as the Villa d’Este with you when travelling. Capture the moment as you glide elegantly along the lakeshore in the BMW Concept Skytop with its sleek silhouette as if made for the picturesque lakeside roads.

The BMW Concept Skytop

The open two-seater looks like a carefully modelled vehicle sculpture: glowing, sporty, and elegant – yet athletic and muscular. The interior and exterior of the concept car radiate in warm monochrome colours and combine exclusive materials with traditional craftsmanship. In the interactive feature, you can discover which detailed highlights make the vehicle a masterpiece.

For me, the effortless fusion of interior and exterior combined with the innovative tail design expresses the elegance and originality that the Concorso stands for.

Dedicated design

The BMW Concept Skytop is a modern interpretation of timelessly elegant automotive design ( ➜ Read also: How to create a classic). The carefully modelled vehicle sculpture of the two-seater has a flowing and elegant yet athletic appearance: even when stationary, the vehicle radiates a refined dynamism.

The BMW Concept Skytop is defined by both a pronounced sidecut and the sharknose. Technical innovations such as the narrow headlights and intricate trail lights with their sophisticated mechanics are reminiscent of high-precision clockworks. The interior of the BMW Concept Skytop combines monochrome colours and exclusive materials with highly complex details and dedicated craftsmanship to create a work of art that delights all the senses.

Fortunately, one-offs don’t always have to remain one-offs – because this concept is now hitting the road in a strictly limited run of just 50 units as the BMW Skytop (➜ Read also: BMW Skytop: the magic of exclusive moments).
