The two-wheelers of the future

BMW i Vision AMBY and BMW Motorrad AMBY
Where does the future of mobility lead to? How will we navigate tomorrow’s cityscapes, and how can we come up with ideas and solutions that make life easier, better and more sustainable? At this year’s IAA, the BMW Group shares a hint of what of this future could look like, thanks to brand new concepts and visions, developed with electrification, digitality and sustainability in mind.

The BMW i Vision AMBY

The BMW i Vision AMBY is the first high-speed pedelec for urbanists by BMW i. Built for adversity and a fast-changing urban lifestyle, it combines the best of getting around on two wheels. Using geofencing technology, the BMW i Vision AMBY has an electric motor with a three-speed adjustment for different types of roads and surfaces. The drivetrain allows for up to 25 km/h on bike lanes, up to 45 km/h on inner-city streets and up to 60 km/h on regular traffic lanes and out of the city. This gives you the ideal driving mode depending on your needs. A bicycle-optimized ABS system and a distance radar built into a native app gives you increased safety, and automatic lights assistants and tire pressure control makes your day-to-day commute as easy as possible.

The BMW i Vision AMBY is born connected, too. By adding your biometric profile to the app, you can also personalize settings, like for instance saddle adjustment. Finally, the app will also let you digitally lock and unlock the AMBY, plan charging, find your parked AMBY on a map, register drivers’ license and insurance info, and more. Once on-the-go, a magnetic smartphone holder allows you to keep your device nearby and handy, at the same offering you wireless charging so you’ll never run out of steam.

The presentation of the BMW i Vision AMBY is part of the BMW Group’s focus on circularity during this year’s IAA Mobility summit, showing the public its vision for emissions-free, digital and sustainable mobility solutions for the future, headlined by the BMW i Vision Circular visionary vehicle. Like the BMW i Vision Circular, the BMW i Vision AMBY is built using recycled plastic and recycled aluminum, using the circular design principles of RE:THINK, RE:USE, RE:DUCE and RE:CYCLE. All materials are in this way easily re-introduced to the BMW Group materials loop, allowing for a high degree of overall recyclability with minimal footprints. Finally, components are locally produced, using the shortest possible delivery chains.

The BMW i Vision AMBY comes with a battery of 2 KWh, giving you between 75 and 300 kilometers worth of range, depending on which of the three driving modes you use.

The BMW Motorrad Vision AMBY

Looking for a smart way to escape the hustle and bustle of city life? A new way of getting around that is truly green, at the same time giving you all the freedom you need, no matter where you are heading?

The BMW Motorrad Vision AMBY is an adaptive mobility concept that combines the advantages of a motorcycle with the benefits of a regular bicycle. Thanks to its intelligent use of geofencing technology, the BMW Motorrad Vision AMBY isn’t confined to neither roads or bike lanes – simply jump on and let the AMBY adjust to your route providing you with the options of 25 km/h, 45 km/h or 60 km/h, depending on the mode, allowing you to go anywhere you need in comfortable style. Of course, it’s fully electric too. The BMW Motorrad Vision AMBY also comes with its own app, allowing you to take full advantage of features like charging status, unlocking the AMBY with Face ID, or registering your available drivers' licenses and insurance information right where you need it the most. The BMW Motorrad Vision AMBY has a range of up to 110 kilometers on a single charge.
